My two upper passenger side bolts to the bracket were broken flush
First i wanna say, a right angle drill, and left hand cutting drill bits worked brilliantly to remove the broken studs
I cant seem to find in my bently for this specific model, the torque specs, ive looked through the engine sections (110, and 119) and cant find the specs
Im talking about bracket to block specs
I have the bracket bushing frame specs 33 ft lb

Good job!
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Vow, what happened to cause that? I've never seen that before.
I think I have that specific torque info, let me look and I'll post it this evening.

It almost has to be an impact. They do shear by design.
There is nothing special about these bolts or attachment method that would indicate this. If this were by design I would expect the bracket to survive.
I'm sure there are many here who've repaired hit cars with broken off brackets(or timing covers)but having all the attachment bolts remain intact. Typically the bracket is the weak point.
I suspect the OP's bolts may have been loose to begin with, perhaps the reason for broken bracket. He didn't mention any impact.
@ OP ~25 ft/lb ought to be fine. Really no precision needed here but remember you are going into aluminum so don't go nuts.

Sorry, I mean the bracket is supposed to shear by design. Maybe not put back correctly by someone in it's past. I don't see that as a common weakness, as BMW has made mounts for inline 6 engines for decades....
Have bought dozens of wrecked E39s. Can't remember seeing many broken brackets, if any. In the bad wrecks, the whole drivetrain is just 'floating' in the car, with all the engine and transmission mounts completely failed/separated. That seems to be the sacrificial part, which makes sense.
