Shorter front strut insert help!

Hi all, I am building a set of coil overs for my 1980 320i and I need a front strut insert that will work with my 2" shortened front strut housings. I thought I was on the right track by ordering 1983 GTI strut inserts but I received them today and their O.D. is too large for my housings. Damn..... What the heck strut insert are u smart people using for this??

Hmm. Bat signal again....looks on shelf in shop at pile o receipts....starts sorting beers in hand.

Found it. I bought a pair through my buddy at Advance Auto parts who can get from world pac.

part number was WPC L3005396457BIL ; these are B8 sports

My buddy just ran the same numbers today and they are out of stock.
