Front License Plate Panel

I've been on a hiatus from the bimmerforums for a few years, but glad to be back. I have what may be a stupid question. I just picked up a 1990 535i the other day, and as I live in CA I need to put the front license plate on. How do I remove the cover panel that is currently there? It's not obvious to me and I don't want to damage anything...I tried lightly prying with no luck...any help is appreciated. I've included a photo in case anyone is confused by what I'm asking. Thanks.

I believe you pry it off. There’s no screws, bolts etc. pry a little harder. Cheers, George

Here's the back of the panel, it looks like you just pry from the bottom to remove it.

I am in the same situation. I keep the front license plate in the glove compartment in case they stop me and ask for it.

Thanks, this is what I needed...I was prying from the top...luckily I didn't break anything.
