Hi everyone. I'm having problems with my A/C. There are times the compressor clutch won't engage. There are times it will. The compressor clutch engages randomly, I have to play around with my A/C by turning it off for a while and then on to see if it will blow cold air. And yes, I do have the snow flake button on everytime. The compressor has just been changed recently as well.
I just had it scanned by an ODM II tool and it says that there are problems with my "IHKA: AUC Sensor" and "IHKA: Pressure Sensor".
I would like to know the location of these two and what it looks like so I could probably have a look and replace them.
Thanks!
we need more info, built year/month, EURO model, US model, Japan model or whatever. Engine M43, N42, N46, I even found a Phil spec 318i E36 . Use the VIN http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Check pressures. This could be normal operation and the result of incorrect charge.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
The AUC is the sensor that senses air pollution. If the IHKA is in the auto-recirculate mode it will shift to the recirculate mode.

Hi Shogun, I have a BMW 318iA 2000 Euro model with M43 engine.
Hi ross1, I have had teh pressures checked last March and there seems to be no problem with it. I also had it topped up on that same day. The compressor ran for half a day and then started to stop again.
I believe the 2 terms refer to the same part. It’s a pressure switch: either you have enough pressure or you don’t.
+1
Pretty much what everybody is saying is to head down to a shop and see about getting your A/C system checked out for proper pressure/fill.

Hi everyone,
I figured out what the problem was. The temperature sensor located under the fog light was loose. After, making sure it was connected properly, the a/c started working normally again.
FYI before posting the a/c issue I already did most of what you guys recommended. Such as: checking the pressure, looking for leaks, taking it to a mechanic but sadly all it did was cost me and did not even give results. Kinda funny I resolved it myself ahaha.
Anyway, thank you all for your help! I really appreciated it!
Glad it worked out for you. Yes, the ambient air temperature sensor prevents the compressor clutch from being engage is the sensor tells the climate control module that it’s cold outside. Them Germans.
