Hello,
Trying to get a poll on how many people would be interested in an aftermarket Door SEALS
Say $100 a side?
Up to what price would you consider putting in an aftermarket door sill, the OEM cost $450+

I think you mean a door seal. The door sill runs along the bottom:
But yes, I think there would lots of interest in an affordable and quality alternative to the factory door seals. $100/side is definitely an attractive price point. If it were already available, I'd be ordering a pair.
Yes Door Seals for Coupes Only 1992-1999, I want to see if enough people are interested to try to get a supplier to make them.
Mine are BAD 25+ years old, new ones are $450, just doesn't make sense on a 5-15K car
The OEM ones are NLA so the price is meaningless really. But at $100 a side I'd be in.. mine are original and completely toasted.
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.
No company would start production for those few people that would be interested, otherwise it would already have happened.
I think you are going to have a hard time finding a company that can replicated the flocked surfaces of the OEM seals. I may have grabbed the last set of new OEM seals for my coupe 4 years ago. They weren't cheap at around $650 for the pair, but I don't regret it.
Even without the flocking, a suitable replacement is just that. I think anyone after a proper replacement would be interested.
I'd buy some at 100/ea

It was something ridiculously unexpected like a Chevy Aveo, searching now too but I don't have a ton of time to devote to this.

This isn't it, but worth looking up, part number in last post

Unfortunately the thread for the Carrand weatherstripping is old and the OP's pictures are dead. Seems like he cut away the outer portion of the old weatherstripping and stuck the Carrand weatherstripping on top. Mine is an autoX/HPDE car so I don't care if it isn't oem-ish. May make this a summer project.

Has anyone ever worked with Steele Rubber Products? I wonder if they could replicate if given a known good sample. The fuzzy trim I could just replicate with some thin fuzzy fabric, if they could replicate the basic seal.
July 2022: I just purchased some stock from Pelican Parts & ECS. They are the the SCHIEFER (Shale / some kind of gray) color though, not the SCHWARZ ... we'll see how they look. My interior is "dove" gray NT55. Most suppliers are listing "backordered no ETA" which makes me concerned these are probably NLA. However Pelican had two driver's sides remaining in stock. A number of suppliers still have some passenger sides in stock. No one seems to be carrying the SCHWARZ though. The part numbers for the SCHIEFER are:

If the color looks decent I will be putting my old ones up for sale. They aren't in terrible shape, but the drivers side is cracked where the window presses against it on the B pillar.
Such a difficult purchase, I agree. Another possible repair I am considering is be to get an old example in decent shape and splice in a portion of good material where the worn material is on the B pillar.

Smart! I paid $1,000 for the pair! Glad you don't regret it, it's been hard to pull the trigger.
UPDATE: The first SCHIEFER one came today: I think it is an acceptable match. Please PM me if you are interested in my old seals, I can send you photos.

Match for stock black seals or match for your white interior?
No - not white/light gray. Those don't exist as far as I know. I'm trying to match the existing part.
The schiefer and the schwarz seem quite similar. I'm not sure why both are listed as part numbers for our cars unless they were both actually used on this vehicle. I'll post pictures soon.
schiefer on left, schwarz (installed) on right

schwarz on left (installed), schiefer on right. the schiefer is a great match for the dark gray colors in the N5TT interior.

schwarz installed, schieffer below, as you can see it is not a great match for the black headliner. lighting was difficult, the one in my hand is reflecting a lot more light, so the difference is probably not this extreme, but it is noticeable. will post more when i remove from vehicle and get in same lighting conditions.

too bad i just had the headliner re-done, or i might consider taking the A-B-C pillars and headliner to match the schieffer color. still, i think matching the lower trim colors will be better than matching the headliner. we'll see. it also will not match the rear window seals, oh well.
