iDrive Software Update

Hello all I was wondering if anyone knew about the new idrive software update rolling out this year. Which models / years will be eligible for it? I went to the BMW update site and put my vin in and the system said my car is up to date. I’m currently driving a 2015 f10 535d xdrive m-sport will my car be offered the update eventually? Does anyone know how to get the update if it’s not offered for my car? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

The updates are media updates; not ECM type updates.

I was reading about the update online and it says that it adds functionality and android auto among other things. It’s supposed to cover over 1 million cars world wide but it does not tell which cars or years.

It may cover over 1 million cars...but I can bet that it’s not going to reach back and cover vehicles that are 6-7 model years old...just not going to happen.

Just like those of us that once had an operational version of BMW Connected...but have the old components that uses 2G & 3G protocol...to have a current operating BMW Connected account would require replacing components or systems that operate on 4G & 5G. A software update alone will not provide communication with the current BMW Connected system.

If you want iDrive 7 (or whatever the next iDrive nomenclature will be)...and you have ID4/ID5/ID6...its going to require more than a software upgrade to operate ID7+.

Put yourself in the same shoes as someone that owns a 2008 e60 5 series that has the original CCC iDrive system...they would need more than a “software update” to get the iDrive system you have in your 2015 F10.
