Condensation in Len. Need Help Without Replacing Fixture if Possible
I have a 2019 740i and noticed some water drops inside the thin small lens on the passenger side retracting mirror. On closer look, I have a very small pin hole chip in the lens. The dealer wants $400 to replace the lens for me. I would like to avoid this cost if possible.
I would like to try and dry out the interior of the fixture and dab a spot of clear glue over the pin hole to seal it and see if this eliminates the problem. Ideally, I would like to dry this out without having to remove the interior of the door and taking the mirror apart to get to the inside of the lens.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to dry this lens out? A friend suggested drilling another hole in the lens to allow for air flow thru the fixture but I am not sure this is something I want to do...yet.
Anyone familiar with this problem with some good ideas?
Thanks for the help,
Greg
