    Hpfp Supra install m240i

Hi, I'm going to replace the fuel pump on my m240i with the Supra pump. The sensor is positioned opposite the original harness. Is it necessary for an extension in the harness or is it possible to rotate the sensor?

Just out of curiosity why are you swapping in a Supra fuel pump?

I bet you won’t gain any performance. Why? The fuel pump in the tank supplies fuel at a relatively low pressure. There’s a very high pressure mechanical pump located on the cylinder head. It’s driven by the exhaust cam. This boosts the pressure up to thousands of psi. Why so high? Direct injection.

Ok, that’s the pump that runs off the camshaft. I thought you were writing about the electric fuel pump. While the pump in the link gives you increased fuel pressure (and likely flow), the engine runs in a closed loop mode. That is, the engine computer (DME) regulates the column of fuel going into the combustion chamber based primarily on the data from the ore-catalytic converter oxygen sensor and to a less extent in the data from the post -catalytic converter oxygen sensor. So, unless you mod the DME software you may not get a sizable increase in power.

    JMHO YMMV

    +1

You are going to need a tune in order to take advantage of the extra fueling, otherwise you will not get the gains by just installing a HPFP.

Also when dealing with that much HP, you will want to look at a custom tune, for most can tunes will not get to that number as the tuner doesn't want you to blow up the motor right out the box.

You might see a 2-5 hp increase as the BMW tune can adjust a little bit to compensate for the extra fueling.
