First time posting on the Bimmerforums, please excuse any thing I might do wrong (but point it out)....
Bought a BMW 2008 328XI as a winter beater and grocery car, but it needs some work. One of the shocks needs to be replaced (left rear), and both front control arms need to be replaced. I was thinking of upgrading it all to something a little more sporty (I'm used to much stiffer cars).
So first question: Any recommendation for suspension upgrades that are good for street use, more sporty, but won't knock my passengers' fillings out. Something similar to an M3's level of stiffness (will M3 coilovers fit?)
Second question: Is it worth upgrading the front control arms without upgrading the rest of the relate suspension bits (rear control arms, trailing arms, etc...)
Thanks
-Chris
If you want you can replace all the control arms and such with M3 version. Same/similar dimensions, and fit right in, but more robust (plenty of posts/videos about this).
But I wouldn't.
Just replace all components with OE and then get some mild sport springs like Eibach or Dinan, or the OE BMW sport springs, and some matching good quality shocks like bilstien. That'll be more than enough for what you are doing for nothing else will really be worth it IMO...
EDIT: Thinking about this more, if you live in an area where suspension components take a beating maybe M3 swap isn't a bad idea since they are stronger (I think. This is what I have been told).
