I understand the cell phone pre wire has switched and constant power. I was hoping to use this to add some USB charge ports and/or a power unit for dash cams in the console area. Does anyone happen to have a picture or other guidance as to where to find the pre-wiring terminal? Can it be accessed from shift the shift boot or any of the holes under the center console valet unit short of removing the trim pieces?
thanks.
I can't for the life of me remember the name of the connector, but if I recall correctly, it's located under the arm rest area, and it's sort of stuffed down under the foam...you need to fish it out.
There are some really old threads that are probably from Randy Forbes that show pictures.
The process was essentially to buy the other half of the connector, the bushing contacts, and the pig tail wires, and then you've got a perfectly concealed source for switched, power, and ground in the transmission tunnel.

I happened to be cleaning up wiring today and remembered seeing this thread. I found these wires bundled under the console and didn't connect to anything. Maybe this is it.

If you pull up your hand brake boot, the connector will be under flap of carpet/padding in that area. It will be the 8-position connector shown above.
Many thanks to all - fantastic! And Robb1887 - your arrow is aesthetically congruent with the Z3 wiring
