1996 E31 - Good bones just needs to find a new home

I am selling my beloved 1996 E31 after over nearly 20 years of adventure in Los Angeles and Portland, OR.

The vehicle has a clean title (only registered in CA and OR) but given my life changes from driving an E31 to driving a minivan with kids, I think it's safe to say that this can be a good restoration project for someone who has the interest and time to work with a clean slate. The vehicle photos posted below are after an ever-present rainstorm, however the vehicle is in generally in good shape. The sunroof works, all electrical was upgraded over time and the engine runs fine. I do have a current assessment of some modest repairs from my local mechanic.











If you are looking for a project or just looking to purchase a spare E31 for parts then feel free to contact. I am open to fair and honest negotiation, can supply mechanical records (I'm the second owner of the vehicle purchased in '02) and am willing to also share CARFAX information with serious buyers.

Odometer: 154,869
Tires: purchased new in 2017 (Costo warranty to boot)
Battery: both need to be charged but suggest new purchase
Paint: in general, she's going to need a new coat and some TLC

Is it an 840 or an 850? Assuming it's an automatic, as most were and if it were a manual, you would have led with that.

In your first of three crappy pictures, it looks like the passenger window is smashed.

Maybe some larger resolution pictures (and more of them), some interior pictures and a price would get things moving here.

It’s 850ci m73 block (not m70). 1996 850ci did not make 6 speed manual so auto. It definitely needs a full paint job.
