Frustrated. Just replaced front brakes on my 2017 540i but cant reset dash brake lights. Dealer wants $85 to do it and wont tell me how to do it manually. Any ideas? All i can find online is for previous generation F10. Thanks.
There’s some missing details to say if this will work or not...but if you’ve seen any of the many videos on YouTube for any F chassis BMW...the procedure is basically the same except that in the G chassis BMWs...with your foot OFF the brake pedal...you have to press the START button THREE TIMES (instead of once like on the F chassis BMWs). And this should allow you to scroll through the CBS (condition based services) screens when you press the trip odometer reset button on the far left of the instrument cluster.
But do read the info below to determine if you can use the instrument cluster reset procedure. If your brake pad sensors did not wear down...and/or you didn’t replace them...then the in car/cluster procedure won’t work.

I finally got it to reset with my scan tool. Had to have the engine running, then the cbs reset.
Great...thanks for posting back that you resolved the problem...and most of all...you posted a solution.

I am having the same problem what scan tool did you use to reset the service brakes light?
Are you attempting the instructions in post #2 with your door open? If yes, close the driver’s door, press the START button 3 times as outlined in the instructions…then press the trip odometer reset button until the CBS reset screens appear (or hold the BC button on the turn indicator stalk if you don’t have a trip odometer button).
If you have the Bimmerlink app…and an OBD II dongle (or e-net able)…you can use that app to reset the CBS services, too.
