The inside door handle on the passenger side just melted and is sticky to the touch. This may be a common problem as the same thing happened in a friend's BMW. The larger handle to pull the door shut is the problem, not the thin metal handle to unlock & open.
Suggestions to clean, fix, or replace?
Thanks

I have the same issue. Following....
Answering my own question, on youtube there are several "how to" videos on this. It seems that even if you replace the part, the same problem could return. One solution is to sand down the inner side of the handle (where the sticky part is) so that the outer coating is removed, down to the harder plastic below. I will try that.
Different problem, but similar....
The rubber on the trunk lid release on my car is gooey. I have decided that maybe sunscreen on the hand has taken it's toll, but I don't know. I just bought the car last May (9 months ago) and the rubber is gooey and I can smear it, so it is actively melting. I'm sure that all of the E9x cars have the same trunk latch release, I think sunscreen is involved because my car is an E93. I have a hand print on the chrome trim on the A Pillar that looks like the hand print that my grand kid made on the door of my dryer. Sunscreen is 100% responsible for global warming and covid. Nasty stuff.
Same problem - any solutions yet?
