well im fixing to dive into this vanos fault issue,pretty sure its cam bearing ledges.im pretty clear on the whole scope of it but what i don't really understand is when you clock the cams to go back, do you just point the q code markings up by eyeball and after the ledges are all bolted down then,use the camshaft holding tool to secure the camshafts,then bolt the timing chain sprocket?it does not look like the sprockets are keyed,or slotted.i have not taken mine down yet just getting ready.
i see there are two flat spots on the cam that the cam holding fixture tool attaches to.
id like to add having taken this apart and checking the hook seal ring area,who in their right mind would have hardened steel rings spinning around in a babbit sealing surface and expect this to last?im bewildered as to what the thought process was on this.maybe the oil could act as a clearance fluid but really!someone was caught sleeping on this part.
