I am replacing the seized blower motor in our '87 325e sedan. I doubt that anyone else has ever been "in there" to service anything that "lives" in the same space.
So: is there anything else I might want to replace while the cowl panel is removed . . . so that I don't have to go back in there again any time soon?

Hey, look at how cheap I found one of those:

Everyplace else wants 50+ bucks! I got one for $28 shipped, supposedly BMW Genuine.

I'm not absolutely certain that's the right part. Does your heater core have the plastic or aluminum pipes?

Richard,
I can't tell, at least not without removing the hoses (cowl panel is still installed, we need to keep this car mobile). When I consult RealOEM, 64111375754 is the part number they give me for our car and its build date (7/86). If you have different info, please share!

So there were two different heater boxes used in the E30. You can tell them apart by looking at the heater core pipes where they pass through the firewall. They'll either be aluminum or plastic. The aluminum one is far more common. The part diagram linked above specifies plastic inlet. When I saw a picture of the part, I realized it didn't look like the one I replaced years ago. Mine had the aluminum pipes. So just go look at the pipes the heater hoses attach to. If they're plastic then you're fine. If they're aluminum, you'll need a different part. Ignore the National version Canada = yes tag. If I do a lookup on my old iX, it says that too even though I know which is the correct part. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=64_0447

Thanks, Richard. My heater hoses go "all the way up" to the firewall, so I am reluctant to break one free so that I can look. Since the first-ordered part is in transit, I think I'll order the one you suggest and return whichever one is incorrect.

Hey, Richard; some advice needed once again form "the maestro". Please look at this link: http://www.koutsoullis.com/index.php?id=4839
Notice that there are four numbers grouped on this page. One of them (64116912633) leads to a Pelican Parts page where the cost is significantly less than the typical $75.00 +/- charged for a 64111370927: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...MaAiS-EALw_wcB
And another, 64111375755 here on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Behr-Br...-/151075430543
Bad idea . . ? Good idea . . ?

There are 2 basic styles for the resistor pack. The pin connector that goes with the plastic inlet heater box and the spade connector that goes with the aluminum inlet one.
What you are looking at is the supersession list. Basically when one part number supersedes another. There is no practical difference between them.
64111370927 is the part called for in the diagram. Here's the list newest to oldest as determined by starting with the '927 PN and moving forward. My comments in []
64111375754
64111373771 (01/01/1984 — ), nonexchangeable retrospectively [calls for this part number may not use older number; calls for older number may use this one]
64111370927 (08/30/1982 — ), Bilaterally exchangeable [calls for this part number may use older number; calls for older number may use this one]
64111468089 (04/05/1993 — ) [old part number, no longer in catalog]
This supersession list is similar starting at '633 and moving backward.
64116912633
64111375755
64111370927
64111468089
Those 2 links you provided are actually finding the same BEHR service part. In a nutshell, any/all of those numbers are for variations of the same spade connector style resistor pack.

Here's the same BEHR part again $26 https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/64111468521

Richard,
I just unclamped a heater hose and pulled it back juuust enough to see what the pipe is made of (not that difficult since I use dielectric grease on all of my hose fittings). Well, you were right: they are aluminum.
So I am ordering the Mahle Behr resistor from FPC Euro due to their proximity to me. THANKS MUCH for your great advice. sir!

While generally true, there's the occasional part where it doesn't help. Aluminum vs plastic inlet heater core boxes is one of them. You have to physically inspect to be certain. Another is the stamped steel vs cast aluminum shift arm. If you are anywhere near the transition date, say +/- a year, you really should verify what's in there.
