    Headlight restoration cleaner

I apologize if this was asked before, any success on cleaning The headlight lens? Theres tons of products out there but I dont know which one actually works and if it latsed. I have a 2009 x5 xDrive 30i and my lens are yellowish and cloudy. If you changed The lens, what brand did you use that its well?

I used a 3M kit from O’Reilly about a year and a half ago with good results. It was in a box with 2 grits of sandpaper, a polishing disk, a cloth, and a wipe-on clear coat. The lenses were cloudy and light output sucked, but they ended up nice and clear. The car is parked outside so it has started to age a bit.

Before the "Kits" came on the scene I restored a set of E53 HID headlights using 800, 1000, 2000 wet/dry paper with lots of soapy water then followed up with Clear Coat Polish. They were off the car so no masking problems etc. that would be required with this method or a kit.

I use the two-step Meguair's "Mirror Glaze" Cleaner & Polish for the clear plastic headlight covers. Works great. No sandpaper needed.

Make sure to apply some Xpel or similar film to the headlights when you are done. The sanding will remove all UV protection and will eventually haze up again.

I discovered that works when I was polishing a car with a buffer and I ran it over the headlight plastic and it cleared it right up.
