Beware: Scammers and WTBs

Glad I read this sticky. I got three replies to my WTB listing for side mirror covers, and all three met the scammer guidelines (no posts, recent join date, etc). So I followed the instructions and reported two of them, the other already had a red flag by his name about "license revoked". Thanks for watching over us!

Hey, just a heads up. I posted a WTB and have received three scam PM's stating that they have what I am looking for sale (a M62 supercharger kit). One said he had one but didn't know what brand it was when I asked, then offered it to me for $250. Ok, no. Another one provided an email that when googled turned up with a scam from another forum. The other was a copy of the first email.

Scammer among us. I have been scammed by Rick4584. No posts ! Should have known better. He replies to my request for splash pans for a 850Ci. I sent money and he disappeared. beware! I still have the private messages sent in my messages.

Thanks for this post. This guy texted me that he has my part. I was considering how to pay, quite pricey part. I just texted and said I will not pay in advance, bet I get nothing back. The cell he gave me is 234-421-2773.

Yep this Rick character PM'd me also. It was incredibly clear from the moment I read it that he was not legit. Have street smarts! How many red flags do you count in this PM? I count at least 5

Not sure if it Should be posted here or not, However Jay6880 Also attempting to scam people on the Forums, Used MJRGroup's photos of his E31 M70 Fuel Pump Rebuild from 2014 to try and pass them off of his own.

BEWARE

Wanted everyone to know I had a WTB add up on the forums and was approached by username 'Markell'. Told me to email his buddy Trysten Dillingham had the front lip/splitter I'm looking for.

Wants you to pay via Family/Friends and very convincing. I did a bit of searching and discovered the same scam/names on a different forum.

Reminder: Occasionally I see people posting their email or phone number in the public forums. This is NOT SAFE! Understand that the forums are public and anyone on the internet can view it. PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR EMAIL OR OTHER PRIVATE INFORMATION IN THE PUBLIC FORUMS! Please use private messaging to exchange contact information. Posting your email or phone number is a great way to invite unwanted spam/scam. There are actually bots that harvest this info and scammers crawling the forums for such data, such private details only send by PM = private message. Also make sure that your password is secure, I know of some forums where member accounts were hacked and spam was posted under their account. Use a password checker, example Kaspersky https://password.kaspersky.com/
