Hello everyone I'm new here.
I have a 1989 325IX automatic. To make a long sorry short, I've had the car since 2014 it worked perfect until 2017. The transfer case went out and it's been sitting there. I need some help if any of you know where I could get a used one ?
Why don’t you take it apart and figure out exactly what “went out” on it? Maybe you could narrow your search and budget down to a specific parts list?
I haven't been plugged into the 325ix community for quite some time. I think all of the old resources have gone away. I'd suggest joining the "BMW e30 325ix" facebook group and see where that leads you.

1986 Delphin 528e - Roof rack equipped lumber hauler.
1989 Zinnoberrot 325iX Sedan - I miss this car. (Deceased)
1998 Avus Blau 328iC - Someone else's project now
2008 Platinum-Beige X3 3.0si - Current project
2012 Alpine White X3 xDrive35i - My new snowmobile.
2020 Estoril Blue 440i xDrive cabrio - This car is a blast to drive.
I'm not sure where to find one, I found this link, but this guy seems pretty skilled. If your viscous coupling is good it may just be bad splines or something, but without knowing much about it, I'd assume it's usually the vc that goes bad?

Thanks everyone so I had it checked out by two different shops, each one told me the internals inside the Transfer case we're shot. They said I'd have to replace the whole thing.
Maybe you can just make it rear wheel drive for now?
No e30s again.
They pop up all the time on FB just search ix facebook groups. There are a few transfer cases for sale currently. Kent Zimmerman in Colorado rebuilds transfer cases which is another option. He is on facebook.
Call lkq, or the bmw wrecker in Santa Rosa California I forget there name
When you say two different shops, what kind of shops particularly? Even if they were transmission specialists that doesn’t mean that they do much other than swap units. There are transmission shops here in town that have been around forever but quit doing complete tear downs and rebuilds in leu of swapping in used or remanufactured units. They would also say that the unit is “shot”, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be repaired/rebuilt. It just reflects what there business model allows them to recommend.
Sounds like you have a lot of options. I follow a guy from MN youtube channel, whose an old bmw specialist with a lot of ix experience. Ovalbore, contact him through youtube or some other means, might have t cases, likely knows how to get one for sure. Seen him do plenty of swaps.
What is the youtube channel name so I can look into it
