Yes, thats next on the list is to find a good rear diff with the right ratio. I would like a LSD diff.

How much do 3.46:1 go for nowadays? They come in LSD?

    Thumbs up

No clue on 3.46:1 LSD value now, they have shot up huge.

If car is not a DD, I would do a 3.73:1...the 3.25:1 is the 10:1 car is very boring. Only great for cruising. Also, Racingdiffs.com has LSD conversions.
    I make E23 parts.

Ford, MB, and GM round out the pack.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check out 3.73:1 diffs aswell.

I ran a 3.91:1 in my old 735i 8:1 five speed, it was not awful. Yet, first gear was nearly useless. It was nearly a city only car, did about 15mpg all the time. I never used OD in town, 45mph would do around 2500rpm I think it was with that setup in fourth gear.

With the 3.25:1 around 40mph it does about 2500rpm...in third. 3.25:1 is great to just cruise around.

Pretty sure the consensus is the 3.46:1 with a manual is best for all uses. With an auto, yaaaaaaaah, no.

So I got the transmission and driveshaft in. One thing I noticed is that the bellhousing from the automatic transmission lines up differently from the manual teansmission, kinda weird. Also, the manual uses a variety of torx bolts and hex head bolts to mate to the engine block.

I had to make a transmission holder out of wood and zip tie it to my floor jack. Dont laugh when you see it but, it worked.

I also picked ul some new bolts and screws from the hardware store to mount the shift plate to the tranny.

I might have a spare boot. What is in it for me?

Also, got a spare shift lever around?

Wanna give an update on the manual swap. Transmission shifts smooth as butter in all gears. I had to get used to driving a stick again. The car is more fun to drive over the automatic and is much faster. Happy to get this car back on the road.

You have so many good pics in here. I am happy with for those. Vids are a bonus, but you have done well.
