Hey all,
Someone yell at me if this isn't allowed I'm newish here and just trying to get a feel for thus new car.
So I just picked up an automatic 2001 BMW 325CIc with only 47k miles on her, red and black interior that's almost in mint condition.
The body has no rust or rock chips that I've found.
It was owned by 1 woman that bought it brand new in 01 on her 69th birthday.
I got the car for a serious steal, it does have minor body damage in the RR quater leading to the wheel well.
I'm kind of torn between keeping the car or flipping it to make some quick cash.
Looking for some insight on your experience with these models and whether or not they can be problematic or not.
I have an 01 330i with 215k miles too so I'm no stranger to the 3 series but my 330 had allot of preventative maintenance done already.
Thanks in advance!

Wow! Nice find! Do you need a second car? Do you have a place to park it for long periods of time if you plan on driving it only in 6 or 7 months a year? Did you get the car’s maintenance records?
Since it was likely driven gently I’d get it out on the highway for an Italian tuneup. The automatic transmission likely has the original fluid so change the fluid and the filter if you plan on keeping it.
Thank you! This young lady fell into my arms like a damsel in distress lol
I currently would like to keep it until the summer just to drive it with the top down haha
The only issues I've found have mainly been cosmetic. I have found that the oil level sensor is bad or at least on it's way out. I also may be leaking coolant from the expansion tank like on my 330, so I'll be checking that out.
Once in a while she has trouble idling from a cold start, I'm thinking it's the fuel potentially, not sure if they knew to run premium or not but regardless the fuel has been sitting for probably over 6 months
And with the trans fluid, that's the atf correct? Also used for the power steering?
If so I have allot of atf from my 330 woes lol
Thanks for your time and information, I really do appreciate y'all!

Edit: I have 3 cars, one of which I'm selling soon, so this would be my daily. I have every paper ever on this car lmao even the original dealer order sheets and the catalog she picked it all out from!

BMW sourced automatic transmissions from ZF of Germany and GM of France. They are different transmissions. The ZF box uses a Pentosin brand fluid while the GM box uses Dexron3. There is a transmission fluid that works in both transmissions. There’s a list of transmission fluids over at E46Fanatics. The power steering fluid is Dexron3.
Roger that, thank you
