    1967 Brakes

Need to rebuild brakes on the 1967 BMW 1600. But calipers for a 1967 seem to be rare. Later new model (02) calipers are readily available. Wonder if they are interchangeable with my car?

    ‘67 had single-line brakes (calipers/MC). Later 02 brakes (calipers/MC) are dual-line...
‘67 calipers/struts use 3.5” bolt spacing, so a tii Caliper could fit, but not a reg 02 caliper. But you’ll be looking at fitting custom dual brake lines (and likely a new MC).

Some have upgraded their 1600 single line brakes with: 7 series 4-piston single line calipers with the 320 vented rotors and the hubs for the bigger tii bearings... Most opt to have their calipers rebuilt.
