    is run-flat repairable

    Hi,
    330 2018
before swithching to winter tires and store summer tires at third party garage, a little nail (tiny 1 cm ) was found between the threads.
I asked manager (not BMW garage) to repair, but a technician that started the job brought a note from BMW site that run flat not repairable and should be replaced.
So the manager refused to repair it.

Truth I never had any tire repairs with my BMWs (had e90 2011 until took for lease current one).
I thought that at least run-flat are more prone and never know that they are not reparable. What a joke...

Do people really put in the garbage a tire after getting a problem like mine?

    Thanks.

Take the tire and wheel to a reputable tire shop for a second opinion.

This seems to be a gray area but the problem you are describing should be repairable. Check out Bridgestone's website. Also Tire Rack addresses the issue. Appears a small nail in an otherwise good tire should be a simple repair with a tire plug kit from a Auto Zone type store. . I carry a tire repair kit along with a plug in air pump in the trunk just for that reason.

Be advised that when a tire is repaired (patch, plug or both) it looses its speed rating.

    Is run flat repairable? Yes.
Will and do the oem and retailers down the line say outright that none can be, though on some tires it would be fine (speed rating loss noted)? Yes.
They end up selling a 300 dollar tire, maybe a pair, throw in an alignment for 100, and that's one expensive between the tread, easily repairable nail. Lots of real life info /experiences described on the interweb. Good luck.

Run flat tires are repairable either through a plug or a patch on the inside. Some tire shops are reluctant to do it but you can find some that will without a problem as long as it's not on the side wall then no tires are repairable for that matter.

Forgot to mention that I have had mine patched on my 7 series without a problem.

Having both a 2012 x5d with staggard run flat tires and a 2015 228i msport I factory ordered had run flat tires . As far as I'm concerned run flat tires are sales gimmick to keep weight and other misc expenses hidden. The sidewall on the 228i blew 3 am in Seattle after my wife a Dr. On her way home it was near impossible to get a $$500 tow till nearly 6 am wasn't gonna drive on a rim I bought a remanufactured rim for a third party tire and wheel then forever on did 5 tire rotation. I have the the original wheel and tire as when I dumped the 228 for a Lexus I let the dealership have the remanufactured wheel I have the wheel and tire for sale it's original off my car with the msport logo on it if anyone wants to make offer. On the the X5d it blew the sidewall on a Friday afternoon and it was towed home. I'm a farmer I had to get off my tractor drive 3 he round trip to Tacoma Wa for a 500 $ tire that was supposedly sitting with my name on it.i was ignored the my sales and service guys would not even look at me even though I bought 2 cars one low mileage I brand new. I was told I had to wait the tire specialist to return who was the one who said it was set aside for me. I walked in with overalls work had and boots as I jumped of the tractor as I needed to the tire home in time to have it installed or not have the car for the weekend. I told myself Im not let them ignore me for a15 minutes this was a no brainier at 13 min I screamed at the the top of my lungs I want a service manager and I want one now. I had my tire in 90 seconds that was it for BMW I'll never own one again in 6weeks offed them both for a new IS250 and a certified RX350 it took a little while for the steam to build up and cut my losses I would travel across the bad lands on a run flat. I was told I could buy the rim and tire used in the front and use it as a spare if push comes to shove and drive it like a donut. I bought two Lexus instead but the 228i blue with red leather be was a driving experience but my wife is safer in the Lexus
