    18K mile E39

Before it goes on Bring a Trailer I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in my unicorn.
    -1998 540i with only 18k original miles
    - absolutely mint and 100% original; always garaged
    - clean and lien-free title in hand
    - automatic transmission
    - comfort seats
    - shadowlie package
    - sport suspension
    - oem dealer installed cd changer and garage opener
    - I recently had the dead pixels cluster repaired so it’s good as new now
    - car has been fully detailed and ceramic coated

I got the car from the original owner when I bought my house...sellers of the house owned this car since new. They both work for bmw corporate and the car only was driven on special occasions and only once in the rain. It is absolutely clean inside and out. It spent its whole life in the garage. Zero rust and undercarriage is absolutely spotless.

Whoever comes closest to $20k takes it, otherwise it goes on Bring a Trailer

I’m located in northern NJ but willing to ship at buyer’s expense

    A very nicely preserved example.
Seems to be lots of pent up demand for special cars so BAT might serve you better. Has it been accepted?

Yes it has. I just have to register it under my name. If I sell on BaT I have to. If I sell privately I don’t have to. Don’t have an issue but If I register it then it no longer becomes a 1 owner.

But I just found out I indeed have to have it registered under my name so I guess that’s what I will be doing.

Any idea as to what to start the reserve at ?

Thank you! I’m tempted to keep it and manual swap it. Let’s see how BaT goes

Great car. Reminds me of a 50k mile 528i/5 that I had last year, only this is way better. That tan E39 interior with super low miles is a beautiful thing.

Best of luck with the sale.

Like any auction company they are interested in SALES so will suggest a reserve lower than you may expect or like.
Do your research on the market. I recently sold there and the reserve they suggested was less than I would accept so we compromised and the car sold for 25% more than the reserve first suggested.
Your car is an outstanding example but with limited desirability so I'm curious to see what it does. Seems there are many with cash burning holes in pockets so good luck.

Wow that is a beautiful example. Not sure there have been many with 18k miles or that low offered before. I'm sure this will have a lot of interest on BaT. I wouldn't say this car has "limited desirability", quite the opposite.

Less Desirable would have been more apt, but I see it both ways. The super low miles, excellent condition, larger v8 engine all make this a desired car, however, the automatic transmission, early model, tan interior are certainly not considered the the best of what it could have been spec'ed with.

Either way, good luck with your sale, you may find someone that has been looking for this very configuration, I hope they find you and you find them. Gorgeous car.

Nice to see this car with "limited desirability" as some would say, sell for $29,000 USD. A nice premium over what it was offered to all of us for here, "closest to $20k". A great day for the seller!!
