I am attempting to replace a compromised u joint on my 2000 328ci automatic. The joint needing replaced is at the end of the driveshaft at the rear differential. I am aware of the benefits of purchasing a new shaft and will do so only if I have absolutely no choice. I have replaced and rebuilt countless u joint assemblies for outdrives, cars, trucks, busses, tractors, etc and I know what is needed to complete the task, I just want to know where to find the part. Thanks in advance for any helpful information.
Duplicate thread - can we merge please?

this isn't a duplicate thread, it's a more specific thread as to what I'm looking for. So far, I can not find anywhere where the Carden joint, u joint, Spicer joint or whatever you want to call it, is listed. I'm attempting to replace just the one bad u joint, not the guibo, not the driveshaft, not the center intermediate bearing, just the rear u joint. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Have you seached for your specific part # at http://realoem.com ?
You can’t get the u joint because there not replaceable
They're replaceable. They aren't manufactured as one piece, the drive shaft and the u joint and an experienced mechanic, like myself, can rebuild the driveshaft with new components.

Here is the mfg and part number for anyone else that is looking. Thank you for the replies.
Try driveline specialists in San Antonio. The shop is highly recommended by the pros.
a more specific thread?
ok, so now we have information spread across two threads....
but, hey, you do you - was only trying to keep all the info you were looking for on this focused in one area (ie, one thread)....but, ok...<shrug>
as to the part - no, it's not offered by bmw as a separate part.
if you've found a solution that works in your case - excellent - keep us updated on how it works out.

Precision universal joint
Part # 352 83286
$25
Exact fit
I know this is an old thread , but I am getting ready to do this same thing .
SO thanks for the exact part number , I assume that my 99 e46 will prob be the same as well ?
Just wondering @Json80 , was this a hard job or just normal u joint replacement about like any other ? I've done several u-joints in the past , just never worked on a bimmer
It’s a hard job because the ujoints are staked. There is not a circlip. Heat helps. It certainly has been done but most shops won’t do it. I have a friend who has done some. I think he said he put a quarter on top and tack welded it.
