Hey everyone.

I’m usually involved in the e36 forum, but I have a coworker that recently has been having some issues with his 328. N52 pre LCI, no xdrive.

He took it to the Indy, had a smoke test done and they removed o2 sensors and found that the primary cats were toast/plugged, causing him to run rich/throw codes and lose some power.

They quoted him nearly 4K to install new primary cats.

I think he’s on board with just going with a primary cat delete/catless headers, but since I’m not nearly as familiar with e90s, is there anyone that knows if there is a catless header set up that works with stock mid pipe without welding/cutting required? Additionally, I’m having a hard time getting solid info regarding which tunes are out there that will allow him to avoid CEL and or codes.

We live in Iowa, where there’s no emissions testing.

Trying to find out which makes more sense. Getting catless and a tune or paying for headers like the afe headers with high flow cats.

As always. Much appreciated.
