    Convertible Chassis Reinforcement

Alright, so I have a 323i convertible from 1999. Whenever I go over bumps and whatnot the car creaks a lot even though the suspension is only like 3 months old. Since it is a convertible, does that mean that the chassis is inherently less stiff? If so, would it be worth it for me to reinforce the chassis, and how would I go about doing so?

The convertibles are actually considerably stronger, it takes a lot more abuse to get the subframe to rip out. I’d be kind of surprised if a stock 330 could do it at all, it took 3 years of drifting with an LS swap to rip mine out.

Have you tried the factory X brace yet?

    Convertibles come with the x-brace.

So, maybe check and see if someone removed it. In 1999-2000, when I added one to my ‘95 M3, I paid about $140 for it. Now, they are over $400. So maybe a PO decided to collect some extra cash and sell it.
