Guys, I am working on my 1998 Dinan M Roadster and I am having a problem getting the exhaust system reinstalled after replacing the shifter bushing.
The system is OEM except the mufflers which are part of the Dinan package.
I carefully disconnected the entire system in one piece (except the manifolds) and lowered it down with my floor jack. Now as I am trying to re-install it I am unable to get one of the three bolt flanges to align. It is out of alignment by about 1/2 of the stud.
When I finally stopped working on it last night I had three nuts loosely on one manifold and the two nuts on each of the rear hangers (this was done to ensure I did not leave the system in a bind) and the floor jack lightly supporting the system.
Any suggestions about how to get the remaining pipe connected to the exhaust manifold are appreciated.
UPDATE:
The exhaust system is re-installed and functioning as designed.
The solution turned out to be very simple, get a second person to help watch & manipulate the front of the system. Which enabled me to move the rear of system (by the tailpipes) left/right and up/down until the front aligned correctly. Once aligned we then we used a second jack to raise the front section until it properly met both manifold connectors.
