They are getting pricey, but they are available. Rogue just got a new shipment in. Many are pre-sold but I nabbed one today.

I need to get a dual ear mount up first.... but I do have an E36M3 cver sitting for my 3.64 diff when it happens. Maybe next winter. I need a lift.

When will the reluctor wheels be available again from BMW?
I bought one of the first runs of these things and yet I have never used it.
This is probably slightly over-engineered.
Get it while you can.
White is Right, Steel Grey is OK, but Estoril is the only color that truly matters.
I like Coupes.
I thought about the rogue cover before my RF install. I decided against the Rogue cover given I'm just a weekend hooligan, in addition to its cost v. the regular dual cover for my driving needs.
A dedicated track car would strengthen the argument for cost for the Rogue cover.

"You can't sign away negligence."
Back in October 2020 when I had the RF kit installed I was going with the Rouge cover but they couldn't locate the stock they showed, it was depleted. I was told new stock is only a couple weeks out and had the BMW dual ear cover installed. Now that the Rouge is available I'm sticking with OE, I don't track the car.
Also, I believe by looking at my Dif that the dif needs to be lowered to access the top bolts to take it off/on. Is that a fact?
I don't track my car either BUT the Rogue diff cover sure does look pretty.
But I'm not sure how loose you have to get the diff in order to change out the cover?
Installation done by Matt at VT MotorWorks and VERY pleased with their work.

Interesting that you coated it... I wonder what that does to the thermal transfer?

The Rouge cover is very handsome!!
VT did mine too. Very pleased with their service and work. I was under the M changing the motor oil a couple weeks ago and looked at the DIF seeing cap socket screws attaching the dif cover. I looked at the top ones thinking there is no room to get a hex wrench in the cap socket if I wanted to get the Rouge cover. Now their available and I don't want to do the work. I've gotten old!!! I know, Call Matt!!!
When I redid my subframe bushings, I cleaned up the OE cover and gave it a coat of clear. I figured if it was hot enough to burn your finger, a coat of clear would not be enough to keep you from saying ounch.

Well, the Rogue cover adds 1.5 quarts of diff fluid which doubles the diff capacity, it has way more cooling fins than the stock M cover have and the stock E36 cover has no cooling fins. Plus the rest of the diff housing to transfer heat, I'm not worried about it. I don't track my car any more and even if I did It's not an all out track rat where you need every bit of cooling you can get. I've seen quite a few of these covers powder coated or painted and have never heard of a problem.
Hey Buck, I was the one that sent you to VT MotorWorks, glad you like their work too. They're about 15 miles from my house so very convenient for me.

Thanks for the referral Wayne, the check is in the mail. Only 225 miles from me to VT with the Sierra Nevada's in between. Just back from a bike ride into the foothills, it was 70 in Markleeville (5,500 feet) with clean dry roads. I dared not venture further up the hill knowing winter has ways of punishing you. Funny how I'll take the K1200LT out but the M is parked???? Not much of a winter so far this year here in the Carson Valley. The snow pack is, there is none!!
Dorman diff cover is a decent alternative
I like the Rogue cover as much as anyone, and they very nearly went out of production; you can thank Bimmerworld & Diffsonline for convincing Ben to continue production!
Unfortunately, their price has almost doubled since I first started buying them (okay, it was 17 yrs ago, and so has EVERYTHING else).
The OE covers used to be <$100.00, and they're now close to $500, so Rogue's price increase isn't so bad after all
But if you're in need of a less expensive way to go...

A good story behind it too

Shop around for price, I've seen them range from under $100.00 to over $200.00!

Today, I agree. Back when I did mine (2016), OE M3 cover was $105 and I think I recall the Rogue piece at $549. I couldn't justify the cost difference then. If I did it again today, I'd probably just go all the way with the Rogue cover, or opposite way and choose Dorman based on the redesigned stiffeners. The M3 cover near $500 just doesn't make sense, to me at least.
Comparing the two in your photos, the Dorman piece looks just as good. I recall the M3 part coming with bushings; what are the options for the Dorman?
