I noticed my temp going to the 220s for a few seconds then comes back down. This does not happen when the AC is on (maybe once) i just received the ECS Tuning thermostat/wp kit with BMW coolant and new bolts. I've noticed my car stays between 200 and 221f with a spike of 227 that I noticed one time (for literally 5 seconds). With the ac button on. It sits at 204.8 at idle..
A friends 2009 328ic with the same engine stays between 180 and 200. Im assuming my thermostat is bad but I would like to know what is "normal". Thanks

Are you getting any alerts in iDrive? I think you engine has an electric water pump and when it starts to fail the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak) will post an alert iDrive. I’d also have the DME scanned for codes. The Service Engine Soon light is on only when an emissions related code is present.
