Found a pair of comfort powered heated seats from a e38 for my e39, since the car was not prewired for them I did all the wiring using circuit diagrams, got the seats to work no issue, wired all the conectors to the center console , all the wires checked and double checked on newtis and using an ohm meter but the heating does not work at all, the center console lights up when I turn on the lights, the ASC button works, all the wires are there , but when I press the heating button the leds next to it dont light up, and the seats does not heat.
Any ideas how to check and what ? Is there something I need to code in the K-bus for it to work ? What am I missing here ?
Also I checked the heater on pin and the temp sensor pin on the seat itself by an ohm meter and it shows an open loop, is that normal ?
A bit of an update, tested the heater circuit, got a reading of about 1.5 Mohm, which is a lot, connected 12v directly to it, nothing happens, I am thinking maybe that the seats are just powered but not heated ? How can I check for sure ?
Hi,
I'd suggest posting this in the E39 section as it's nothing to do with car audio.
Over the years, there's been plenty of threads in that section and other BMW forum E39 sections for heated/power seat retrofits and you'll need to check your E39's wiring for which plug it has as they changed from early to later E39's and cross reference that with what the E38 seats have as I think the plugs on those changed too.
I put in the E38 Sport Contours into my E39. They don't have heating nor does the memory option work, but I may have a brand new heating kit fitted/added to them and I'll perhaps use the buttons in the NXG-39 head unit fascia to control !
Cheers, Dennis!

Dennis, you won’t need heated seats with global warming! /s
