Hey everyone just trying to get everyone’s input. I recently bought a 2015 535i with 60k miles. It’s starting to having starting issues. I had the battery checked and it’s 90% charged. At times when I try to start it, no turn over or crank. I’ll sit there for about 10-20 seconds then try again and it feels like it’s grasping for power? I’m thinking starter could be the issue? This morning I also had a battery discharge show up which was odd. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
The battery in these cars has to be in excellent condition the battery needs to be fully charged and load tested to verify it is good, how old is the battery
The weird part is the battery isn’t marked. It looks brand new but it could of just been cleaned for the sale?
As it is a 2015 it is either the original battery, or a new one. 4 years is generally the life, and I just had to change mine a few months ago.
Ok sounds more manageable. Would you think it could cause the car not to turn over and crank?
you can see the battery voltage through the hidden menu on the dash. A good battery will show 12.5/12.6v with the ignition on, and a good alternator should be charging about 13v when running, even if you turn on all the electrical systems in the car, the battery voltage should not be dropping.
I will try that today. Thank you
Update. Looks like my battery was pulling very low voltage under 12v. Thanks for the help!
