Have a post on the e39 and e38 forums regarding this.IMG_2089.jpg
Now, I did spend some time today with my car and a laptop.
Tried to code the EDC with the SG-codieren option, and got the attached screen shot.
Error indicates a software issue in Ediabas, or SG files.( I do read and speak German well )
Tried INPA to read the EDC, fails to read,INPA uses the same Ediabas data, same for Tools32.
Tools32 actually opened in an odd way, no commands present.
The prog file in question is C_EDC3.prg I have a few Ediabas downloads, but all are identical.
Tonight I got lucky and found a different size prog file, on a Polish website, they claim is that it is a corrected version. will try tomorrow.
I would like to ask this Forum also if someone has a copy of the latest of a C_EDC3.prg Ediabas file ?
The Polish one is 11k, the files I already have are 12k.
Thanks !

What was the reason of coding EDC? Trying to achieve what?
The EDC fails to function, EDC light in button works as it should, tried a few modules that are known good, same result.
Cannot communicate with the EDC, all other modules are readable.
The C_EDC file made no difference, I rechecked the TX line from the module that leads to the 20 pin Diagnostics connector, Looking at the wiring diagrams there are 6 items connected to this TX communication line. I am measuring a DC voltage of 10- 13 V .
Somewhere between 2 and 5 volts seems much more acceptable for communication signals. I have the feeling this much higher voltage might have issues for the EDC communication, and functionality.
Does the forum have any idea what the expected voltage might be on this pin 20 ? (AC or DC)
When measuring I did not have the EDC connected.
Thanks
Here the magic word is “cannot communicate with edc”.
If you rule out wiring issue, then time to replace edc.
I tried 4 different ones from Ebay, supposed to be functional ones, but who knows ? nobody scans them, also if defective it will not set a warning in the cluster. I disconnected every module from the TX line except for EDC, still no communication.
Wiring is correct, also not found a company that repairs them. Have a known good EDC ?
Optionally I can rewire them with a manual control, as I have done in the past.
