Dear friends hello, Happy New Year to everybody,
I recently bought a 96 BMW Z3 (what a car!).
Downloaded INPA v.5.0.6, installed, connected to the car, and I can see all modules except engine.
My car's engine (based on a Delphi diagnostic from a friend) uses the Motronic 1.7.2 module. The error I get is IFH-0006 COMMAND NOT ACCEPTED. Program will be stopped.
Other modules in my car include:
- Airbag: bae 8362119
- Immobilizer: ews 8369179
- ABS: abs 1163090
I have read about INPA not connecting to non-EWS cars, but apparently mine has an EWS module.
I am selecting DME 1.7 for M42/M43 inside INPA.
Any help?
Thanks
I knew the 1996 as being with M5.2 dme, or maybe the BMS43. But it depends, since Europe got a lot of different versions of Z3.
DME 1.7 is probably an ADS (L-line) module only, so k-dcan with 20-pin adapter will not reach it. It will be necessary to get an ADS interface on true serial port, or an ICOM. Note that ADS interface itself doesn't work with EDIABAS 7.3.0!! It needs 6.4.7. Icom works fine with EDIABAS 7.3.0 and older L-line; it does the communication internally and connects to your computer via Ethernet.

Very clear. I can connect with Delphi and its "alternative" ICOM bluetooth adapter. I am now expecting some more cables and do some trials with other software around, and I will post results, if I manage to somehow connect to the DME with a different configuration.
I got the WOW Wurth application with the adapter. It connects just fine with Motronic, and can scan the car. I highly recommend it for this car. Thanks for the help. I also expect one cable to test with INPA, BMWLogger and Carsoft, in order to send more results
