    Tic Toc is back!

Me 04 X3 200k having problems with the tic tok sound when turning...did the "battery reset" and the sound is back. The flasher would always work...but it was not sounding. Its been two weeks now and no problems with the sound. Never thought I would miss it....

Low battery voltage will affect the sound and the turn signal stalk control; toss the battery on a charger over night to maximize its voltage. I had an issue with the turn signals not shutting off during repeated short trips during the winter. No issue starting the car, but on the short trip the battery saw a net loss in voltage.

Thanks for that...the battery reset did the trick for the tic-toc.

Link to this "battery reset"? Mine has the same issue recently.

I had the opposite problem on a 2001 Jetta years ago, ticker would tick really fast for no reason (stalk no activated, lights not flashing). Fix for that one was to spray a ton of WD-40 into the stalk.

"Battery reset" is a misnomer; no part of the battery is being reset.

What the OP is likely referring to is removing the battery negative cable and shorting it to positive to clear all capacitors of stored voltage. Voltage = memory.

Also, as mentioned previous, measure both static and dynamic voltage of the battery. Corroded or high resistance on the E83's primary two earth cables will also cause weird electrical gremlins. They should be replaced every few years, especially in Canada.
