    2011 550i N63 sudden major oil leak

    Hello everyone,

I have searched but not having any luck finding anyone that had the same issue. I apologize if this has been posted before.

I have a 2011 550i that had the engine replaced by BMW about 2 years ago. On my way to work I noticed a small amount of smoke trailing. I thought it was from a truck that I was behind for a while. I turned off on my exit and noticed that the smoke continued. I immediately checked the oil (out of habit - N63) and it dropped to about half.
I immediately pulled into a parking lot and pulled into a space. I noticed a large puddle of oil under the passenger side and a trail into the parking spot.

I have since pulled the panels off of the bottom of the car and attempted to locate the issue. I have attached a couple pictures of where it looks like the oil was leaking. (pics aren't great!).

The leak appears to be right above the starter at a sensor/ banjo fitting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Happy Holidays!

the engine oil cooler connections are near the bottom of the engine. one in/one out. looks to me like that is leaking.

After looking at the pictures again looks like it’s got an electrical connection.

I’m going to check again this weekend.
