I just pulled the head unit to replace it with an upgrade, but to my surprise, the FM radio is still playing when I turn on the key. The steering controls work, both volume and channel. Where does the AM/FM receiver reside in my car? Apparently it's not in the HU. I'm about to do another Google search but I'm wondering if it's behind the C-Pillar, driver's side, down by the seat. Any thoughts? BAFFLED!
Interesting. I was surprised to find an external amplifier, when I put my new deck in. but FM radio?

I’m assuming you have the satellite navigation unit in your car. That’s actually just an interface, everything is in the trunk. You also won’t be able to put a regular stereo in your car because none of the speaker wires are there, that plug has also been relocated to the trunk. You will need to get a patch cable on eBay, they’re like $35.
I bought the patch cable as suggested by the manufacturer of the replacement unit I bought. Now everything makes sense. Thank you!
Did the car come with factory navigation? If yes, all of the electronix are in the left side of the trunk. The “head unit” is merely a man-machine interface.
