A custom box with a 10TW3 would likely be in that effort to replace either the driver or passenger rear panel depending on volume requirements. I will not entertain gutting the whole system as I want to keep the stock HU for the Toyota integrated cameras/functions. So it's either the idatalink or dropping a bunch of coin on a JL VX amp to take high level inputs and using the DSP internal to it to make the speakers do what I want. The stock Toyota JBL with sub is a joke.

Got the first box out of the mold today. Hoping to have it together on Monday as the wife has plans for me all day tomorrow.

And after I cleaned up the mold edges

This will be BMWBergy's box, and we'll be able to verify fitment local and operation. So that's awesome. After his checks out I'll be able to make this with no reservations and we'll get some "installation process" photos during his install for the full process.

As much as I love 3D printing, the size of this just does not make any sense at all for 3D printing.

For the other poster, an ender 3 would take FOREVER then on top of that you would need to glue probably 10+ pieces together and then see the effects on the sound, just doesn't make sense.

Full disclosure, i love 3d printing and have an ender 3 pro and and an SLA printer as well.

Thats fair, good points. This probably isnt the best use for it but I do feel 3D printing is wildly underutilized in the aftermarket car parts scene...

Officially no longer a "feeler/interest thread"

We have the firstbox going together. Another day of work and it should be ready for final fitup in BMWBergy's Coupe.

    "Final product" Photos

Your finish will vary slightly from the nature of fiberglass work, but this will be what you get more or less.

    Rivnut installation and use:
This allows POSITIVE clamping force for the covers to the cabin hump dividers and also eliminates the weak plastic fasteners that seem to strip every use.

    Butyl Mat & Felt tape
Adds rigidity to resist rattling and ensures joints are not plastic to plastic. I never checked without these items for rattles, it was all installed preemptively. Felt tape is marked with red arrows, I also felt taped the bottom of the pull cover handle.

Alright, time to pull the trigger. I guess that means add myself to the 'box' list vs the 'interest' list?

Finally getting the custom badges printed. They should ship this Saturday, so I can get them finished up and out to those who I owe one to by next weekend, hopefully.

Starting the last pre-ordered box this weekend. Who needs to be next?

The wait for the badges is almost over.

They arrived the other day and will get finishing details this weekend likely. The 5 included ones are claimed already, but they will be available with or without a box purchase. Once I finalize finish work time I will have a final price and photos. I'll have 4 spares from this batch (of 10) that aren't claimed.

jb1856's box should be done this weekend as well then it's on to Fuman's.

    Badges are here!

A little light finish sanding after the epoxy fill cures and they will be ready.

Mounting will be accomplished with tension washers (if that's the correct name of them).

Two mounting options, due to printing material characteristics a mild warp can result, to accommodate a 3rd post is added to the now longer cantilevered end, this will require snipping a bit of the speaker grill out to accommodate to have it pulled completely flat.
    -OR-
cut the third post off and use the stock two locations that are from the original HK badge.

Two tension washers will be included with purchase.

Well now I kind of want one just to get one of those badges LOL

It's sad if you knew how much I wasn't kidding about that

Tension washer, retaining locks... M coupes, automotive perfection... just different names for the same thing really...

    Washer name is closenuff.

You can get the badge without the box, but the box does help get the point across for the badge.

You should require people to buy the box to get the badge. 1 box = 3 points
    3 points for a badge
    Like the Dinan system
Only replacing the sub gets you only 2 points
