since the oil cap for m50/s50 engines are towards the rear of the engine and runs up against the firewall, has anyone found a good oil fill funnel that would provide clearance?

Google - Funnel
I've got an offset one sorta like this. Works.

any pics of your solutions on the engine?
It's not a silly question....fit matters.
I bought this monster for a different reason and guess what? It sits in the S50 oil fill without support, AND one can literally place an upside down 1 qt oil bottle inside it and walk away.

cut the bottom off a 1qt oil container, dont know anymore but the big mouth on the old mobile 1 containers was about the right size to stay stuck in bmw oil holes.
i think a gatorade bottle might thread into my s52 hole. theres a cap on my desk. might work

I just roll up a newspaper and use that. I figure the printer's ink must have some lubricating properties. (yes, that was a joke, I have a offset, big mouth funnel.) Another hint, is to pour the big jugs sideways. That way they don't "glug" as much.
No matter where you go, there you are...
Back in 2013 I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Assenmacher-S...0-4513d670b6bc
It has a machined aluminum twist-lock adapter with gasket that locks tight to the engine's oil filler port. You can fill the whole funnel with oil and just let it empty into the engine unattended. No leaks, no mess. Yes, it's a freakin' $52 funnel — but it works so well! In fact so well that I later bought the late model VW/Audi version for our other two cars.
Edit: My 96 M3's oil filler is at the front. No firsthand experience of whether this clears on models with the rear location. It's kind of tall and narrowly flared, so it may.

Has it come to that?
Full qt of oil laying in the funnel.
