2010 F02 (750Li w/mSport pkg)
Got a "charge battery" warning. Put it on a trickle charger overnight.
Next morning, I found the following:
1) Key fob doesn't unlock doors (although it does open the trunk). Lock mechanisms makes an audible click but nothing happens.
2) Key fob DOES lock doors
3) Interior lights don't come on when unlocking
4) Driver door unlocks with hard key only
5) Center unlock button doesn't unlock doors or gas cover
6) Passenger door won't unlock - not even from the inside! I'm used to the double-handle-pull to open a locked passenger door from the inside, but now I pull the handle and the door lock pops up --but when letting go of the handle the lock retracts back down into the door.
7) The ONLY way to open the gas cap door is to pull the green gas door emergency release tab inside the trunk.
What gives? What's the fix?
After a search I found a "GM3 problem" on prior generation cars that seemed to match my issue. Also something called "Transport Mode" may be the culprit. No idea, can anyone help?
Sounds like the battery is completely dead, especially if you're getting a "charge battery" warning. I only see that when the battery is really dead. Replace it, register it, and then clear out all the fault codes and then see what works or doesn't.

A trickle charger is not going to charge up a battery of that size if the battery is over 3 years old replace it, get the exact right battery and then register it to the car, then if the car sits a lot you can use a battery tender to maintain the battery. These cars need a good battery.
