Wheel offset for e23 and related

I have a set of 17x8 wheels and tires (225/50/17) (offset 43) from my 2010 535i Touring that I would like to put on my 1987 e23 to solve the TRX problem (has >10 year old 220/55/VR 390 tires on now). Will the 17x8 wheels with the 225/50/17 square set work on the e23? If not, will an 8x17 offset e20 wheel work with the 225/50/17 tires?

    Thanks

The 17x8 et20 will fit no problem. The first set with et43 will not fit properly without spacers. I think the highest offset you can run is around +30 (depending on width).

Thanks for the reply Yert. I'll do a search for a set of 17x8's with the et20 offset then and use the 225/50/17 tires I already have, or may ask a tire/wheel installer about the spacers for the et43's.

    Thumbs up

    ET23 need a 3mm spacer with a 225/50R16. ET13 and ET20s do not.

Thanks Hit Man. Do you think the 225/50/17's with the et43 will fit even with spacers? If so, what mm spacer will likely be required?
    Thanks

You would need to get the et down to 20, so a 23mm spacer would be required. Most off the shelf options will be 25mm. My personal preference is Motorsport Hardware

Anything can fit with enough patience. IMO, better off finding a set of wheel with a better offset.

E32 wheels fit without a spaces as I recall, I had a set of the 750iL space satellite wheels on a 745i for a while (HEY THEY ARE FORGED!) with the stock 225 width tyres and no issues. E38s need the 3mm spacer, a 5mm works too obviously...but the 3mm works with stock lugs! Style 4s are on my my keeper 10/84 745. Oh wait, they are on Mary's 11/84 10:1 car now and my BBS RZs are back on the 745. Oops

    I make E23 parts.
