I have an '82 320i and was talking to a guy selling a '77 fuel injection system. Are the fuel distributor, air flow meter and WUR interchangeable over the model years?
thanks
Baron
The air flow meter definitely is compatible and it's a good upgrade as it has a larger opening of 80mm vs the later style that is 60mm. After making the change you should definitely retune.
Not sure on the fuel distributor / WUR but you can check on RealOEM if the part numbers are the same or not.
'81 E21 320i / '90 E30 325i / '̶9̶2̶ ̶E̶3̶4̶ ̶5̶2̶5̶i̶t (sold) / '15 Toyota XW30 / '̶̶8̶0̶ ̶E̶2̶1̶ ̶3̶2̶0̶i̶A̶ (sold)
I just checked on realoem and it looks like they are all 76-82. good call. thanks
No the 1977-79 Fuel distributor does not have a Frequency Modulation Fuel Port that supports the O2 sensor, catalytic converter, fuel enrichment ,ect, 1977-1979 uses an EGR system for Smog control. The 1977-79 FD also does not have access ports to the individual Fuel Valves to dial them into sync either. The 1977-79 volume air box or meter box - the upper half does fit the lower half of the 1980-83 Meter box and 1980-83 Fuel Distributor with Frequency Modulation Valve Port with a banjo bolt ect.
I have a rebuilt 1980-83 Fuel Distributor attached to 1977-79 upper half meter box with larger Air Disk and port attached too the lower half of 1980-83 Meter box sitting on my dresser that goes along with a future upgrade I have been getting parts for..
Realoem is in error, this happens sometimes.
