    Offset LCAB part number confusion

    Good morning,

I am replacing the LCABs and found two part numbers, help correcting me if i got this information incorrect:

31129061222: This is specific to the E30 M3
    31129064875: This is specific to the E36 M3/Z3 M

Both parts fit, but the 875 is the stiffer offset version?

Does it matter which one i order? and these are always sold as a set/pair correct? meaning i need to order just ONE of those and i should receive two pieces correct?

    Thank you.

    Offset LCAB part number confusion

The offset bushings added caster to the E30M3 and 1995M3. The 1995M3 FLCAB part was offered as an ‘option’ on earlier non-“M” Sport and “M”-Technic E36s.

    E30
    31129058931
Set rubber mounting f wishbone (centered - open, very compliant)

    E30M3
    31129061222
Set rubber mounting eccentric (offset - closed)

    E36 95 M3 (similar to E30M3)
RUBBER MOUNTING F WISHBONE 31129064875 (offset - closed)

    96+M3 / Z3 “M”
RUBBER MOUNTING WISHBONE 31129069035 (centered - closed)

    318/325/323/328 / Z3
RUBBER MOUNTING F WISHBONE 31129059288 (centered - open, very compliant. different configuration than E30)

    For all (‘lollipop)
    LH WISHBONE BRACKET 31121139789
    RH WISHBONE BRACKET 31121139790

Use a Temporary Assembly Lubricant to aid installation of ‘lollipop’ to FLCA

Would this be an appropriate lube for doing the rear trailing arm and subframe bushings as well?

    I bet it is.

on helicopters, we use Crisco for assembly of O-rings and packings in engine oil and fuel systems. we use something similar to the one you asked about when building transmissions and gearboxes because sometimes they are grease filled. I bet that is used for what you asked

For whats its worth, whenever I do suspension bushings I use Marine Grease. It is more water repellent and typically formulated to not break down when exposed to water, as well containing more anti-corrosion properties. Ive noticed it lasts quite a bit longer before you have to re-apply, say for instance if youre running "Poly" bushings that will creak if they get too dry.

Very cool, I was close to becoming an Aviation Mech, back when I was enlisted in the Coast Guard. Was too impatient however and couldnt last the 3+ years it took to get into training. I have had alot of friends however who stayed in it for the long haul end up in your neck of the woods (corpus) at the air - stations and small boat stations. Someone once told me that the E30 community has a high number of people involved in aviation...

I was thinking of doing coast guard auxiliary when I retire from ccad

Dude, thank you for posting that info, it is valuable.

I so for my E30, i should go for the 222 number?

Lastly, i was planning to purchase the "special" bmw "montagehilfe (the special grease), but superj is right, an alternative to be used for all bushings around the car would be better.

I shall search for P-80 in Germany, do you (or anyone) have any alternatives?

Found the big 1L fluid version in Germany for €25.

I do plan on removing the rear end and re-doing the bushings, looks like i answered my own question, but the BMW special grease is a bit cheaper and more easily ordered.....can that grease from BMW also be used all around the bushings of the car?

The P-80 temporary lubricant is intended for rubber/rubber coated/clad metal shell bushings.

This might work for metal-on-metal installations, however it is not the intent.

Alright, the BMW Grease seems to be the winner then.

    This is the one: 83192405829

I decided to get the E36 M3 center bushings and i have one question.

Since there is no arrow to align the bushing to the mount/bracket, i guess those two notches on the sides are what one needs to pay attention to and align to the bracket marking(s) when pressing them in?

    Similar to this?
