    Differential Question

Please do not hate on my post. I am new here. Could not find a definitive answer.

Is the M5 differential the one that is finned?

Is the regular diff on a 540 finned?

    Is the Dinan diff finned?

I went under the car for the first time to change all fluids and I think the previous owner put in an LSD.

    Please let me know!

    Pics would be awesome.

    Thank you!

Factory diff is not finned. Only m5 has a finned diff.

I'll be home tonight. I'll post a picture of my stock open diff.

The Dinan and stock M5 diffs are both finned.

The Dinan M5 is the cleaner one, dirty is stock M5.

Looks like my reply did not post. Thank you guys!!!

Looks to be there is no difference in the numbers stamped on the side.

I can probably do some digging from here. But this really helped.

    Thanks again

If you jack up the rear and turn either wheel the other wheel will turn in the same direction if you have an LSD diff.
If it turns in the opposite direction it isn’t an LSD.
A non LSD diff housing can be fitted with an aftermarket LSD and still retain the non finned rear cover.
