428i keeps saying move trunk partition

My hardtop convertible has been working fine in my 2016 428i, but tried to out the top down nothing happened it dinged and said move the trunk partition so I did. It keeps saying to move the partition and top won’t go down. I’ve checked multiple times for obstructions but the trunk is empty. Any ideas??

The trunk partition obviously has to be in the down position for the top to operate. If it is down, and locked into position, and the car doesn't recognize it, then there is a problem with the microswitch (or possibly a hall-effect sensor) that tells the top module the partition is down. My guess it that the microswitch is in the latch mechanism, and not on the partition itself.
