Does anyone else have this mysterious part in their engine bay?

What this thing is supposed to do?

RealOem lists it as a hose clamp which is obv incorrect.

- Sits over on the passenger side of the engine bay near the firewall
- Might interact with the washer hose but not sure how

That was on my 93 318is. I broke it off a couple weeks ago as it was useless. I forget what exactly it was. But I do remember sorta that it held something. A wire or a loom or another plastic trim of some sort. It might of protected the hood strut.

That is what it does. Keeps the windsheild washer hose from getting pinched in the hood when closing.
