P1028
I replaced my dad's 2005 x5s radiator, coolant hoses, the sensor down on the lower radiator hose passenger side, thermostat and housing and obviously coolant and belts. Everything is working great, the engine runs at the correct temp when warmed up, but every so often he keeps getting the p1028 code (engine temperature below thermostat regulating temperature) or basically it's saying his car is warming up to slow according to Google. Do I need to worry, where should investigate for issue? When I check the coolant temp via a obdii device it's around 185 f. I believe the new thermostat is working as well and it doesn't send coolant to the radiator right away, also the temp needles is dead center and stays there. He has the M62.

If the coolant temp when warm is 185 it’s to low, what brand thermostat did you use, the temp gauge is buffered meaning the needle will not react exactly with the temperature of the coolant where as an after market gauge would not be buffered so the needle would be more active and accurate

I'll double the coolant temp and thermostat brand, it may have been higher than 185 I'll see.
