Help,
my bmw 116 i was down in the garage for a few weeks for some maintenance. I got the car back today and realize the overhead light, the hazard light the power windows, the powered side mirrors are all not working - also the headlights are constantly on when the car is running or ignition on. This was not so before. Also fog light not coming on.
It would seem this has something with removing the battery after it became discharged and replacing after it was recharged.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Take the car back to the shop and have the shop properly charge the new battery. Batteries sit on the shelf for months before they are installed. As a result they tend to be down on power. Also, make sure the shop “registers” the battery with car’s intelligent charging system. Otherwise the charging system will overcharge the new battery.
The battery must be registered with the car when they are replaced with anything other than the EXACT specs of the battery which came out of it. Any European shop who works on current BMWs should know this. It must be coded through the dealer or you can do this yourself if you use a bluetooth OBD scanner and phone app. Personally, I use OBDLINK MX+ and the Bimmercode or Bimmerlink app.
About the lights staying on... Did someone use another car to jump start your BMW? If this is the case, you could have blown a module and those can get expensive. Ive had this happen to a 528i.
I DO NOT ever use other cars to jump mine. BMWs arent immune to frying electronics this way. I only use batteries that are charged to start the car. If its dead, charge it first or get another battery. My lesson was learned the hard way.
The windows and sunroof have to relearn for the anti-pinch function. Normally you just have to lower the window all the way down and then all the way back up again. Repeat for the other windows and sunroof.

Thank you very much for your comprehensive reply. And yes it was battery related. The footwell module was blown. It's expensive to replace.
Thanks a mil.
