    Vacuum advance for distributor

Does anyone know where to get a new vaccum advance mechanism for a 79 320i us version? I see some similar looking ones from pertronix but was wondering if anyone had a part number they used. Thanks

I'm in the same boat but for an 82 320i 12111288446 or 12111705915, cross ref from later e30 m10. Did the suction test this weekend no vacuum so diaphragm is mot likely cracked, the distributor advance can be freely moved by hand but doesn't move during suction test.

Got the vacuum advance in the mail finally. My vacuum advance was stuck i used wd40 to unstick it installed new advance mechanism and now it works. Probably check timing, still get 1400rpm idle which has been their since I've owned the car. The car runs great except the high idle, maybe someone advanced the timing years ago, the car has run excellent at all speeds with the advance broken.

Have you tried adjusting the idle screw by turning it clockwise (someone correct me if I have it backwards) to lower the idle? If it is all the way in and you are still at 1400, then there is a vacuum leak somewhere...

Timing is good 25 btdc @2200, new vacuum advance gives 10 degree's @ 2200 rpm. Don't think I have vacuum leaks car stalls when dip stick is pulled, no hesitation at any speed pulls hard. Turning manifold screw only seems to change the mixture. I'll go back thru O2 sensor, 2 years old, idle drops 200 rpm when disconnected.

New O2 sensor installed for good measure, adjusted the manifold screw in around 3/4 and redid mixture too around .70 vdc ish (very finicky) with O2 disconnected, swings between .10 - .80 vdc connected. Idle down to around 1100 with or without O2 connected, runs good. think I may have to pull WUR and check i out, cold idle is about the same as warm, but no problem staring cold. Vacuum advance makes a difference in the power band, the original problem, guess everything is related as usual.

Pull the idle adjustment screw all the way out (with the car off) and inspect the threads and the o ring on it. Clean and replace and see if you can get your idle down to 850. My idle screw was super gross and replacing the seal fixed my high idle.

    The manifold screw?
If you are referencing the idle speed screw on the throttle body, this does not affect the air/fuel ratio, maybe the o-ring is bad. This idle speed screw is on a 'metered air' passage.

Note: there is a rubber plug on a vacuum nipple on the underside of the intake manifold. Make sure this is good too.

Will do, along with pulling the WUR and cleaning, however seems to be running good and slightly higher idle is good for the auto/ AC this car came with.
