Hello everyone, this is my first post on the site IIRC.
I own an E46 330i 6spd. which I'm starting to track a lot. I've got a somewhat soft Bilstein B12 suspension with thicker sway bars and poly FCABs, camber plates, 3.64 50% lock LSD, Ferodo DS1.11 and 225/40/18 semi slicks on 8x18 lightweight rims.
I'm seeing people recommending wider tyres for better track performance on these cars, but I can't see how I would need a wider tyres, at least until I stop DD'ing the car and shed some weight off of it. I could get 9x17 AC Schnitzer Type 1s and 245 semi slicks if I sold my Team Dynamics, maybe even make some money depending on how much I got for them, but I don't know if it would be a wise move, cause I would gain quite a bit of weight in each wheel I think. Current rims are 9 kg each, anyone knows how much are the other ones?
Good thing about 9x17s is that I could fit slicks, however I don't know if they would be too much for my car as it is (camber plates maxed out at almost -3º, relatively soft suspension, no chassis reinforcements...)
Any advice will be appreciated.
We ran 8.5" kosies with 255 NT01s on a softly sprung 330i and had a blast. Heck, I think they are still in the basement if interested. Good luck!
