Replacing Side MIrror Turn Signal

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2014 528i and the left side mirror turn signal is cracked. I bought the replacement thinking I can just pull the side mirror cap but it seems there is more into it. The electrical cable of the turn signal seems to go all the way in the side mirror. I was hoping the electrical plug is on the signal light side but it is not. Have anyone replaced their turn signal on the side mirror? Can you tell me how to?

A friend took the mirror off completely and fished down the door to disconnect at the connector. When I replaced my indicators with the smoked eBay units I just cut and spliced the wires.
